The House on the Rock, WI
The history of The House on the Rock is attested by many who were involved in is creation. It is speculated that the construction of house on the rock started in the 1920s, however the first extended lease was granted some 30 years later in the 1950s. This would indicate that the builder of house on the rock built on private property illegally for some 30 years. The house on the rock was made open to the public in the 1960s. The museum totals 4,200 ft.² per each level of the museum. Making this a sprawling labyrinth of whimsical weirdness and horror that takes hours to explore.
