Deerfield, MA
Deerfield Massachusetts is the location of a particularly infamous massacre and kidnapping of English settlers carried out by the natives and the french in the winter of 1704. This attack resulted with the death of 47 settlers and the kidnapping of 112 settlers who were forced marched 300 miles to Montreal. Many who were taken did not survive the long march to Canada, being killed along the way to prevent the slowing down of the train or because they resisted. Those who served the trip were sold into slavery. Some where requested by there family. The door of the Sheldon House is the most famous memento of the event. Showing how savagely the invaders attacked, in the attempted to reach the men, woman, and children who hid within the house.
